The New 1001 Push-Up Man

In collaboration with James Prior, 2000-2005

The narrative based project followed the legend of The New 1001 Push-Up Man through his absurd athletic endeavors and to the glory of achieving his dream of 1001 push-ups in a day. The work used various products, video, and imagery to create a store-like environment that celebrated the achievements of the athlete and coach. The work also featured performances throughout the St. John’s community where the exhibition was held. Ultimately, the installation and performances strived to create a sense of paradox between how the characters represent themselves and the reality of the two characters faulted and problematic lives.  The work is a collaboration with James Prior and as such, we share equal authorship with the work.
